I heard this song on the radio a couple of days ago. A few parts of the lyrics kind of jumped out at me when I listened to it again.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our lives and start living with regret. We just need to slow down and remind ourselves why we are living and appreciate life.

Guitar Lessons Learned

It's been almost a year since I taught myself to play piano. Ever since I learned piano, I wanted to learn guitar. My mom has a guitar a friend let her borrow, so my brother could learn to play guitar. So she let me borrow it until I move out into my own place. After about 4 months of it sitting in the corner collecting dust, I picked it up and started teaching myself. It was really, really, really hard. But I kept telling myself that piano was this hard when I started playing, too. After a bunch of flipping pages from "Simple Guitar" by Steve MacKay and so much searching up tutorials on YouTube. I have finally taught myself to play guitar!!

My goal was to start this summer of 2010 and hopefully I would finish by the time I graduate in 2011. Turns out I finished much sooner than 2011. I am so happy I did not give up!!! I have not memorized any songs yet, but I know where almost all the basic chords are at. The barre chords are kind of hard for me, because I am a beginner. And I know how to use the capo.

The capo looks like this:

Capos are used to change the key and pitch of the open strings of a guitar without having to adjust the strings with the tuning keys.

Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe

Cold days during the fall and winter can get you shivering and running for your covers. There is nothing better than Hot Cocoa to warm your insides!!!!

Hot Cocoa Mi x

4 cups of nonfat dry milk powder

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 cup non-dairy coffee creamer

2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 (4 ounce) package instant chocolate fudge pudding

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. If a finer consistency is desired, you can pour the mix into a blender or food processor and run it through that. Store in an airtight container. Add 1/4 to 1/2 (depending on your cocoa preference) of the mix to an 8 ounce mug of boiling water.

Life In The Country

Kid Rock

I know I haven't kept my blog active lately, but just recently I got my first comment since July. I am suddenly inspired to write on my blog again.

Life in the country? Well, I can't complain!! I actually love it here. Even though it can be stressful at times, its not that bad! The past two days have been spent reading.

I am now reading "Do Hard Things" by Alex and Brett Harris. I heard of the book off of Alexandra's blog. And wrote it down for momma to get for me. She said she already has the book for my brother and I to read for school.

So excited that fall is here!!! I have been waiting for cooler weather. Now I am waiting patiently for the leaves to change colors.

As I am figuring out what to do with my life, I am constantly reminded of Jeremiah 29:11, and Proverbs 3:5. He keeps reminding me that he has a perfect plan for my life. One that I can't imagine having.

New house, New Beginning

Due to circumstances in our life, my family and I had to move in with my mom's friend Nancy. Even though the move has been difficult for me I have decided to have a good attitude and enjoy it. We spent the past weekend packing, lifting heavy furniture and boxes, and loading and unloading the truck. Nancy's family has been kind enough to split their game room into a small gameroom and two small bedrooms for my brothers and I. After having a large sized bedroom most of my life, I now have a small bedroom. Nancy's husband was kind enough to make me a loft bed due to the size of my room. We managed to squeeze my desk, keyboard, guitar, and bookshelf in my room. And stuck my dresser outside of my door. Since there is no overhead light in my room, mom is having to buy a few lamps for my room. I am hoping to get back to updating my blog.

VBS 2010-Saddle Ridge Ranch

This past week has been spent doing VBS. Our theme this year was "Saddle Ridge Ranch". It was a great experience for many children in our neighborhood. They had a great time doing crafts, music, recreation, snack, and bible study. The teachers had a wonderful time ministering to the children.

The verse this year came from James 1:5...
"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." NIV

We also did a couple of contests.

Contest 1: The music teacher had a bag titled "The Good, The Unbad, and The Not Ugly" bag. Each day the children would have to behave and follow all the rules. Then the "trail bosses" would put their names in the bag. And 3 children would win a CD with this year's VBS songs.

Contest 2: The boys and girls were split up into two teams. Boys vs. Girls. Each night they would bring in as much non-perishable food (for our church's food pantry) as possible. And the last night of VBS, if the boys won, the pastor's wife would get pie in the face. If the girls won, the pastor would have pie in the face. A couple of times the boys won. But the pastor's wife and I had faith in our girls. The last night the girls brought in the most cans.

My faith in the Lord has been weak the past couple of weeks. But, the last night of VBS I felt a calling to come back to Him. The one thing I love is that, whenever our walk becomes to far, our God is waiting for us with open arms.

A chorus in a song the children had done spoke to me:

Music Randomness

So, a few weeks ago I have decided I wanted to sing in church. I talked to one of my good friends, and she said she would be able to sing with me. So that day we both wrote down a list of songs we like along with the artist. The next time we saw each other we gave each other our notes. We decided on a song that we are both familiar with. It is called Walk On Water and it is by Britt Nicole.

Our brothers have scouts every Monday night. So, we decided to practice while the boys were doing their own thing. It wasn't until a week and a half ago, that my friend's mom got the split track CD of the song we want to do. This is my very first song I am doing. So the first time we sang the song without Britt, I kept losing my timing. Now I am great on my timing, but I still need to work on my enunciation. Once we have this song down we are going to ask the music director of our church when we can sing it. I am going to try to ask someone to video us singing, so then I can put on here.

Forgiven

It was probably 2-3 months ago that it happened. I started to doubt God, and was wondering if I really was a Believer. I am really attached to my laptop. So at that time I didn't care about anything. Television, reading, music, food, family, life, and my laptop. That is a list of stuff that I enjoy. All I wanted to do was to sit on my bed in the morning and cry until night. I cried to the point my eyes started hurting.

I was so mad at myself that I wanted to punish myself and God so I threw my Bible in the trash. Later that day, my brother went to take the trash out, and the bag was unusually heavy. So Mom went through the trash, and found my Bible but she didn't tell me.

On a Wednesday, Mom decided that I needed to get out of the house. So she and I took the family van to a restaurant. Pulling off our road, Mom turned on a Christian radio station. I started crying because I was hearing about God. While we were eating I asked Mom if I could go to youth group that night so I could talk to my youth pastor. I got to talk to him after the service. He said he had a similar problem. And he prayed for me. That night, while I laid in bed with tears in my eyes, I thought about the journey of the day. I realized that I felt a lot better. I asked God for forgiveness, and told Him He can have complete control of my life. And asked Him to use me to glorify Him.

The next day, I counted my money. I had enough to get a new Bible. So after lunch, I wrote a note to Mom saying that I wanted to get a new Bible. That night I stuck the note on her bedside table.

The next morning she never spoke of the note. So, I was worried that the note might of got knocked off her table. So, I asked about the note. She went to her room, and grabbed my Bible and came to the living room where I was waiting. She said that she was waiting for the right time to give it back to me. She gave it to me. I thanked her and hugged her.

Now thinking back to that main struggle of my life, I know it was test of my faith. I know that my faith in Him is stronger than I could ever imagine.

One of my favorite things...Learning to play my piano

For education this week...My regular school schedule, and I plan to continue to learn how to play my piano.

A keeper at home-skill I am using/learning...How to make different items out of the food we grow out of our backyard.

A spiritual lesson I am learning...Patience, controlling my actions and words, and praying without ceasing.

A godly character trait I plan to work on...Being content in each situation that God places me in.

Scripture I am memorizing..."She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue." Proverbs 31:22-26

I am praying for...Guidance through my life and choosing the right path to walk on, that He will make my dream come true, and unspoken prayer requests.

For the rest of the week...My parents have Bible study Tuesday evening, My brothers and I have our Bible study on Wednesday evening, and whatever the Lord seems to fit in.

New Year Resolutions

As 2010 is coming up, I have been thinking what I want to make for my resolutions. As I was making the list, I said "Why not start my New Year early?".

I was so excited about my idea, that I went and told my Mom. She reminded me to make resolutions and choices pleasing to Him.

I thought this would be great to share with you because we might make choices that He will not approve of. And we have to be careful with what we say, and what we do. We may not know it, but there are little children watching what we do. They will do the same exact things we do. We are supposed to be role models for those around us. We do not want them to do things or say things we regret.

Remember we can do all things in Christ, who strengthens us!

Be a "Yes" girl!

As I was reading through my Bible about the Christmas story, I realized that Mary must of been shocked when an angel appeared and said that she will give birth to a son. And she asked "How will this be, since I am a virgin?".

Mary was a teenager just like us. But she didn't put her foot down and say "No. I am not going to give birth to a Son of God.". She said "I am the Lord's servant, may it be to me as you have said.".

"Saying 'yes' to God, like Mary did, often requires sacrifice. When God brings an opportunity into our lives, we might lose friends, give up our plans or just be plain misunderstood.

But just as Mary experienced, saying yes to God's plan is worth it. She was given the awesome privilege of being the mother of Jesus. Can you imagine how she would have felt if she'd say no?

When God gives you and opportunities to say yes to Him, remember the angel's final words to Mary: "Nothing is impossible with God.".

Above was taken from my Bible, I wanted to share it with you, as well. Because it spoke to me and changed who I want to be. I want to be a "Yes" kind of girl. Even, if it means giving up my computer, or giving up my friends, or giving up my life. I will do anything and/or give anything up for God.

Today...Monday, December 21, 2009!!!

Outside my window...The snow is melting, it's VERY cold.

I am thinking about...What my New Year's resolutions are going to be.

I am thankful for...God sending down His Son, and having Him die for our sins.

I am wearing...A navy blue long-sleeved shirt, and pink pajama pants.

I am reading...My Bible, and my Nancy Drew books.

I am creating...Blog Updates, and later this week I'm going to make peanut butter cookies, and snicker doodles for our family gathering.

One of my favorite things...Spending time with God, and falling apart in His arms.

For education this week...No school this week. Christmas break!!!

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning...Keeping up with the crafts to do with my little brother.

A spiritual lesson I'm learning...Reaching out to someone at least once a month.

A godly character trait I plan to work on...Keeping a positive attitude in everything I do.

Scripture I'm memorizing...She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. Proverbs 31:14-17

I am praying for...My future. God's guidance through my life, that I choose the right paths that make Him smile. And a quick recovery to get over this last bits of my cold.

For the rest of the week...All I know is that we are going over to my Mamaw's on Christmas Eve for dinner and gifts. Christmas morning we'll get up, have breakfast, and open the presents underneath the tree. Then later that day will be our family gathering.

Craft Time

My parents got me this bag last Christmas, to organize all my craft stuff. I really couldn't figure out what to put in all those pockets.

So a couple of weeks ago, I piled all my craft supplies on my dresser, and started organizing them into this bag.

14 Days of Thankfulness

Today I am thankful for my own laptop.

Earlier this year my parents got me my own laptop as a reward for consistently helping out with the house without being asked. I use it more than I need to. I use my laptop to update blogs, visit other blogs, check my e-mails, and such.

Fall is here!!! Which means the leaves are turning colors, and falling. It made me realize how people change and fall.

How people change:

There are a lot of people out there that are hurting, and lost with no direction. As they learn that they CAN change, their hearts begin to change. They accept Jesus into their lives.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

Now they can give all their worries, fears, and dreams to God. Where God can always hold them in His hands. When they cry, God wipes the tears away, and comforts them. I just learned that God knows that we are hurting, and He says "I am here. Climb into my lap, and let all your tears out.".

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

" 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'." Jeremiah 29:11

"I am worn out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes." Psalm 6:6-7

How people fall:

Almost every Christian thinks that their faith is steady, until they start slipping from God. Either they are mad at Him for taking someone they love away, or they haven't spent any or enough time with Him.

But He is ALWAYS there, right next to you. Now matter where you are or what you are doing. If you are eating, praying, reading, surfing the Internet,or even talking with your boy/girlfriend.

"Come now, let us reason together." Isaiah 1:18

"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise." James 5:13

Whatever problems you have or if you have any requests, take them to Him.

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying on all the saints." Ephesians 6:18

"I can do all things through Him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13

Book Review: Rebekah's Diary

Since I have decided to work in the missionary field, Mom has been finding books about missionaries for me to read.

A couple of weeks ago, Mom was looking around "No Greater Joy" website, and pointed out a book called " Rebekah's Diary". She said it is about Michael and Debi Pearl's daughter going to a mission field. Rebekah writes journal entries about her adventure and all the up's and down's she went through.

I found it pretty interesting.

It gave me an idea of what missionaries do and such.

Sorry, I haven't updated in a while. I have been distracted, and recently my camera broke. So I had to wait until I could get a new one.

A couple weeks ago my family got new dogs.

Bailey-

Is a Golden Retriever, and very sweet. She is one-year-old, but still has a lot of puppy in her. She is a fence climber, so when we let her out to use the bathroom and play, we have to keep a close eye on her. She has to be my favorite.

Gracie, (I have not gotten a good picture of her, because she moves a lot), is a lab/pitbull mix. We were looking at Craig's list ads, and we found this ad about Gracie, saying that if no one takes her to a new family, then they will take her to the pound to be killed. So we rescued her.

She is very sweet.

Randomness

Sorry I haven't posted yet. I just couldn't figure out what to write about. So this is going to be just randomness and what has been going on in my life.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try my hand at making my very first cake. I made a Hawaiian Wedding Cake.

I have a bunch of projects to work on.

I have a Thomas Kincaid color-by-number page Mom gave me.

I have a BUNCH of books I need to catch up on, PLUS, books Mom gave me.

I have a puzzle, I work on every now and then. I don't really have a official place to put it together on. So I put it together on the kitchen table. But before a meal, or if I know that I will be leaving it on the table for a while, then I put it up, Because I don't want my cats to play, tear, or WORSE, eat the puzzle pieces.

And last but not least, I have a stuffed dog sewing kit I haven't worked on in a while.

Just a couple weeks ago I started to get blooms on my butterfly bush.

My flowers are getting bigger. Especially my impatiens. Now next year I KNOW to plant them a little further apart. They are starting to grow into each other.

Next post coming up is pictures my Mom took of our chicken flock. Some of them are cute and funny. I will try to get that one up as soon as I can.

And the next post, probably before the chicken one, will be of my birthday!

Garden Update

We (Mom, Dad, and I) went outside to check our gardens. It turns out that we got 2 squash from our squash plants!

We should get some more tomorrow. Our corn is growing well. And our okra is just taking it's time. But it is getting there.

My Weekend In Review

Saturday we went to our first homeschool group field day. It was fun. They had games for the kids to play. Although my friend and I didn't play the games. I was shy, I am not sure what my friend's excuse was.

Outside my window...Is really cloudy, every now and then the sun will peak through the clouds, warm out, almost a great day for yard work, :)
I am thinking...I am actually making a list of around the house and yard stuff that needs to be done today. It is getting pretty long. Should get started after this post.

I am thankful for...Great "bloggy" friends that I can relate too. That inspire me. :)

Some More Backyard Pictures!!!

After cleaning Sunday afternoon, I got bored. So I went out in our backyard to take some pictures.

We just planted this peach tree. This is the first fruit tree we have ever tried to grow.

This is Momma's lavender she planted a while back. It started blooming after the rain finished it's first round. You can really smell the scent right after it rains.

These are the latest additions to my garden. These are impatiens. I am hoping every two weeks to get some more flowers to fill in my garden. The top one is pink, the bottom one is orange.

I snapped a picture of our hens taking dirt baths. At first I thought they were dead, because they were on their sides. The top one is Pikachu or Ash (Pokemon characters), the one on the left is Cinco, and the one on the right is Lacy. Pikachu and Ash are buff orpingtons, Cinco is a salmon favorelle, and Lacy is Polish, aka top-hatter.

Spring From My Backyard!

This is my garden - finally planted.

These are some orange gerber daisies we bought.

This is a picture of an iris from our front yard. I have no clue when we planted it. I thought the picture turned out great.

This is my new flock that I have to take care of for one of my chores. We just put them in the coop. We found out a couple of days ago that we have two roosters. When I was feeding them one morning I heard a crow from one of them. One of them is the black one with white spots, on the far right side.

I love walking around bare footed in my back yard. Especially in spring and summer.

Herb Festival

Every spring, a herb festival is held at our local farmer's market.

Mom and I had a great time looking at all the homemade stuff and the herbs that local farmers grew.

I am wanting my own flower garden this year. So later own today Mom and I are going in the front yard and figuring out which garden I can get. Mom asked me if I was wanting to plant some herbs this year. I told her since this is my first garden that I am wanting to try flowers this year. Then next year I will do herbs. And this evening I am going to probably get me some seedlings from a store.

Are You Ready?

As I am re-reading the "Left Behind: The Kids" series again. It makes me wonder what the rapture will be like. I believe in the rapture. I believe that these things that Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye are talking about will happen. I am still studying on what will happen when Jesus comes back for us. It says in the bible that when Jesus comes back for us, it will be a lightening going from one end of the world to the other. He will quickly snatch us.

Matthew 24:27 (King James Version)

27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mom showed Justin and I this video last year or the year before that. It shows you all the nataural disasters leading up to a church service. A pastor is preaching about when Jesus comes back. When he gets half way into his sermon, the camera turns back to the congregation. Everyone disappears, only a few are left behind.

If you had not read or watched the "Left Behind" series. I want to encourage you to watch and read it. Also ask yourself "Am I Ready?"

I recently entered Hannah's apron giveaway. One morning last week while I was doing my chores, my brother, JJ, went to check the mail. He came back in saying my name. I asked "Did my apron came?". I saw a package in his hand. I took it out of his hand. I ran to Mom saying that my apron had come. We sat on her bed and opened the package. We pulled out this gorgeous apron. It is soooo pretty! So I put it on, and we went into the kitchen to take pictures of myself in my apron.

New Recipe, Tried, And Success

Last week I was craving some chocolate chip cookies and Mom and Dad needed to take a snack to their Bible study.

The only recipes I could find included either oats or nuts.

The last place I checked was Rachel's blog. I knew that she loves to cook/bake. And guess what? I found a great chocolate chip cookie recipe. I have to say that I was kind of nervous trying a new recipe. But I did it. The other reasons why I was nervous was because I had never worked with brown sugar, and because I had to put the cookies on an ungreased pan. I said "Are the cookies going to stick?". After they baked, I pulled them out of the oven and checked them to see if they were done. Guess what? The cookies did not stick. I kind of mutilated a cookie by checking it. So when Daddy got home he tried half of the mutilated one. He said they were good. So I tried the other half myself. And I have to say that I was really impressed with my cookies. Mom was even impressed. She took two batches to her Bible study. When she came home, I asked her what the other people thought. She said they were impressed, too.

The Easiest Garlic Bread You'll Ever Make

Sorry about the long title, but I could not figure out a good title for this blog post. Since Jocelyn posted a post about her spaghetti recipe, I decided to post a blog post of our easiest homemade garlic bread.

Ingredients:
As many slices of bread you want or need (homemade will do also)
Garlic Powder
Italian Seasoning
Butter (we use squeezed or spray, but homemade will do also)

What to do:
Lay the slices of bread on a cookie sheet(s).
Spread the butter on each slice of bread.
Sprinkle the garlic powder on each slice of bread.
Sprinkle the Italian seasoning on each slice of bread.
Pop the cookie sheet(s) in the oven.
Bake at 350 degrees.
We don't time our bread. So we take it out when we think it is done or when it is golden.

The Mystery Of The White Egg - solved

For the past couple of months we have been getting white eggs.

We have about 8 hens in one coop. The only hens in that coop that lay white eggs are Polish, a.k.a. Top-Hatters.

One of our Top-Hatters, Simone, was curious and squeezed through an open hole in the poultry netting, into the other side that - at the time - held one Araucana hen and five Black Sex-link hens. All the Black Sex-links, including the Araucana, were pecking at Simone and left a big bloody spot on the back of her head, leaving no feathers.

So Monday we put her in the side that doesn't hold any hens at the moment so she can heal. Tuesday we went to go check on Simone's food, water and eggs. It appears that she is one of the hens laying the white eggs. We have two others Top-Hatters, and Mom thinks one more may be helping lay the white eggs.

My life of being feminine

As you have read in the past on my blog, I am trying my best to become feminine. I am looking at every store for long skirts I can wear around the house and about. So far I am not having any luck. But I do have one long skirt that I only wore once at "Southern Blessings'" house one weekend. So right now I am wearing jeans that are not tight, shorts that go past my fingertips (got this idea from the public school's dress code) or Bermuda shorts, and shirts that are not low-cut nor tight around my chest.

In the near future when Mom learns how to sew I hope that she will sew me some long skirts, dressers, or jumpers. But in the meantime I am keeping an eye out for any long skirts that pop up at any store that I can afford. I am hoping to tell the girls in my youth group and the young ladies in the congregation what I am doing and maybe encourage them to start dressing feminine, and maybe share the "Feelin' Feminine" site.

The past week in review

Earlier this week I got grounded from my laptop again. A while back Mom and Dad got me a laptop since I have been helping around the house and really pitching in to make sure the household and family is running well. But ever since I got the laptop it has been first on my list of importance every day.

Yesterday Mom brought back a word that I have not thought of in a while: priorities. I thought about the word a lot yesterday. I also remembered that last year for school in Bible, we went over our priorities. Mom gave me and JJ a sheet of loose-leaf paper. On one side she made us write down everyone's name that is in our household. Then we had to write down what it appeared, based on the time they spent on something, that their priorities were. Then we put a star near what we do almost every day. For me, it was stuff dealing with the computer. Then we flipped the sheet over and we wrote what our REAL priorities should be.

Other than that I have been deep in thinking about college. I kept on going back and forth on whether or not I should go to college. When I younger I wanted to be a secretary. Because I am organized, I am good at office work, and I make good coffee, lol. Then either it was Monday or Tuesday that I made up my mind about college. I do want to go. There is a community college that is near both my home and my Dad's work. Which is why right now I really need to start buckling down on my school and start contributing to a savings jar for college. Ever since I have made up my mind about college, I have been asking my Mom questions about college like, "What classes am I going to have to take to get into college?" "Do I have to pay to go to college, and how much?" "What classes am I going to be taking in college to get the degree I want?" Mom was great at answering these questions because, early in her life, she worked on getting the same degree I am wanting and she went to the same community college. I know when I go to college that means I will have a lot of school and homework to do, still have my chores, study for tests and probably not have enough time to spend with my family. But I hope it will be worth it.

On Wednesday my Mom took our oldest dog to the vet. And she had to make the toughest decision anyone would have to make. She had to put our dog down. The vets gave her this decision because they said that Baby's, my dog, kidneys were failing. She was also suffering with arthritis and blindness. When my parents came back through the front door Baby was not on the leash. I was about to ask what happened, then I saw my Mom's face. It was red with tears coming out of her eyes. My brothers and I knew where this was going. Adam ,5, grabbed his favorite blanket and curled up in Dad's lap while JJ and I went into our rooms and plopped on our beds and soaked our pillows wet with tears. Baby knows that we loved her and cared for her. Now she is feeling better in Heaven.

Same blog, New design

I recently talked to my mom about a new design for my blog.

I picked out everything like my avatar and the background. I wanted something vintage, brown and pink, and something that had flowers. This background was perfect.

For my picture I wanted a Victorian girl or a cowgirl. So Mom looked for some cowgirls and/or Victorian girls. I guess she found some great Victorian girls. She found four good ones. I picked this one because she has dark brown hair like I do, she is also wearing a dress, and I trying to be more feminine.

It took Mom a while to make the picture fit on my blog. She also had a hard time trying to find a color that wasn't too dark or too bright. As you can tell, she changed the wording in my header slightly.

I love my new blog design. I also want to thank my Mom who spent a big chunk of time one night fixing and making my header.

A week before we went to visit Nancy, Mom said that she had a special BIG surprise for my two brothers and me. We were all eager to know what it is. When we got to Nancy's, finished unpacking, rested for a few minutes, I asked if we could know what the secret suprise is. M, Nancy's oldest son, popped in a video. On the screen popped up a few Disney characters, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, etc. My oldest brother, JJ, already knew where we were going. But I wasn't so sure. Then JJ told me. I was quiet, watching the video.

We are going to Disney World!

I can not believe it. Adam said that he didn't want to go, because of all the scary rides, but we started explaining to him. Then he did want to go.

We are leaving on the first day of March at around 10:00 p.m. because Nancy has a 1-year-old, and she is wanting him to sleep. We are staying for four nights and five days. Four nights for four parks. I am so excited. I won't be blogging while down there. But I promise when we get back, I'll post pictures of our trip.

New year, new stuff

Ever since we got the first part of the privacy fence up more than a year ago, we have been wanting to get the other side up. Just a couple of days ago we bought a few more panels and put them up.

We have done a lot of switching around of computers in the last week or so, too. Mom got a new laptop. Dad took her old computer. JJ got Dad's old computer. I was going to get JJ's old computer but I got something better... I got a laptop. It's not an expensive laptop, but it's good for my needs. It's hard getting used to the keyboard and touch pad, but I am not complaining. My youngest brother got to get the old computer we used to use, along with a desk. His computer only has a Windows 98 operating system, and I'm glad to now have a Vista.

We have been moving a lot of stuff around. But it's worth it.

Apron

This is one of my Christmas presents from last year.

This is my very first apron. It is an Amish apron. Mom has one just like it but it is a different color. I use it to cook in, and when we start gardening this spring, I am going to use it to carry veggies.

In this picture I am making brownies. I am the official brownie maker in my family. I use the brownie recipe from Hillbilly Housewife. I am hopefully going to learn how to make blondies from Hillbilly Housewife. I've made snicker doodles once but I accidentally made them to small.

I am not sure what has gotten into me. But all of the sudden I am drawing. I am not a really good drawer yet. But I can only draw straight stuff like houses and buildings.

This is what I drew:

Two story house. The top part looks a little darker. I also drew a garage connecting to the house.

My most colorful drawing I drew. It is an old-fashioned school house.

Dog house with spike collar. This was also my first dimensional drawing.

I drew a barn long time ago. I think I chose the wrong color.

All of these drawings were free-handed. I hope that I'll be able to draw people and animals in the future. If I draw anymore pictures I will post them.

Hi,

This is where I'll be posting about my life, simple living, and my daily experiences about being a handmaiden.

I wanted this post to be about my life and what my blog is about. So let me get started by telling a little about myself.

My name is Alli. I am a 16-year-old home-schooled, Christian girl. I have been home-schooled since I finished eighth grade,. I am now in tenth grade. My family and I are urban-homesteaders, trying to live our lives like God wants us to live.

The only animals we are raising are two flocks of hens and chicks, two dogs, two cats, and three fish tanks. Every spring and summer we do a lot of gardening. Every year we try new things to grow. We are also trying our best to grow a fall crop.

I love singing, blogging, writing, drawing, and reading the Bible. I believe in homeschooling, gardening, and God. I go to almost every youth service at my church.

I am living under my father's roof until God brings me my prince, if it is His will. When I grow up I want to marry a good, country, Christian guy. I want to start my own family, home-school my kids, and Iive a country life.

I want to do everything in my life to please God. I am also trying be feminine.
